Each lion is seated upright in a commanding, protective posture, with its head slightly turned and resting one front paw atop an openwork, carved brocade ball. Both figures feature highly detailed, contrasting elements: the manes, tails, and spine ridges are rendered in a dark, textured bronze finish composed of tightly coiled, swirling curls, while the bodies, faces, and paws are finished with a bright, polished gold gilding. Each lion wears a decorative collar with a hanging bell and tassel. The gilt surfaces show a rich, mottled patina with areas of wear revealing darker underlayers, giving them a warm, aged character. The maker notes these are auspicious "wealth-attracting" beasts, ideal for a scholar's study or elegant interior. A substantial and highly decorative pair.
