Oil on coarse burlap canvas

An atmospheric Danish rural scene depicting a traditional thatched farmstead in early spring, with whitewashed buildings, bare trees and chickens moving through the courtyard. Engelfelt’s muted palette of blue-gray, ochre and earthy brown tones gives the composition a quiet, distinctly Scandinavian character.

Signed F. Engelfelt lower right. The original stretcher bears a faint period inscription associated with Nørre Lyndelse, Funen (Fyn), Denmark, together with the date 1923, providing a specific geographic and historical context for the work.

Presented in an old gold-toned wood frame with naturally aged surface and patina.

Overall framed dimensions: approximately 23 x 20 inches.

Condition: Age-related craquelure and scattered areas of paint loss, particularly within the sky and tree areas, consistent with the age of the work. Please review photographs closely for condition. See less
