'Granny Chic' at its best! 1950's handmade felt tote handbag decorated with a sewing theme design including thread, needles, pin cushion, tape measure and scissors. The fifties color combination of black and pink with blue, green and yellow accents is the perfect retro vibe. Lined in hot pink cotton fabric with an open tote bag silhouette and double top handles. No maker's mark and may have been fabricated by a talented homemaker with a kit. Use it for its original purpose as a sewing bag or carry it as a fun and stylish handbag.
Good vintage condition with some signs of age and use including some brown age spots to the felt with the most obvious spot on the strawberry pin cushion as shown in photograph 7. There are also some loose seams at the lining though I tightened a few here and there. The interior lining is in pretty good shape though there is some light soiling at the bottom. The heart shaped pin cushion has a tiny hole which may have been a moth nibble or it could have been created by the former owner when using it as an actual pin cushion. Overall, it is adorable and the condition issues are easy to overlook.
The body of the bag measures 13.5" wide x 13" tall x 5" deep. The double handles each measure 16" from end to end providing for a 7" drop.
