The Doue borrows the curve of the surahi, the long-necked water vessel found on tables across the subcontinent for centuries, and gives it to the sharper eye of 1950s European modernism.
Dark walnut and pale ash are joined first and then turned together on the lathe, so the chevron along the body is not painted or inlaid: it is where the two woods meet, and it runs all the way through. A heavy high-gloss polish, built coat over coat, catches the room's light and hands it back. Above it, an ivory empire shade gives a soft, glare-free glow; below, a black plinth lined with leather.
Limited edition of 40. Each piece is numbered and signed, and made entirely by hand in our atelier.
Wired for the US: 120V with a standard US plug. Includes the ivory empire shade and a three-tone LED bulb (warm, neutral, cool).
27" H overall with shade. Base 15" H, 6" diameter. Shade 15" across the base.
