A wonderfully expressive Italian art glass owl sculpture or paperweight, formed from a substantial mass of clear glass with deeply worked circular eyes and contrasting black glass disc pupils.
The compact modernist form is especially appealing from the side and back, where the glass has a fluid, softly modeled quality suggestive of hot-worked construction. Tiny pointed ears and a small beak give the owl remarkable personality despite the minimal design.
The thick clear glass catches and refracts light beautifully, making this as much a small abstract sculpture as an animal figure. Unsigned; maker currently unidentified.
Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or other visible damage.
