Overview & Description
A pair of Model 83 dining side chairs designed by Niels Otto Møller in 1974 for J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, Denmark. Defined by a restrained, architectural profile, the design features a rectangular back with two horizontal contoured slats, squared rear stiles, and rectilinear front legs. The solid teak frames display tight wood grain and traditional mortise-and-tenon cabinet joinery.
The original woven Danish paper cord envelope seats have been finished in black, providing a graphic, high-contrast presence against the warm teak timber. Both chairs retain their Danish maker markings beneath the seat rail. Solid, balanced, and structurally sound.
Condition Details
Very good vintage condition. Teak frames show minor surface wear, light scuffs, and edges consistent with age and careful use. The woven paper cord seats remain firm and intact with good tension across both planes. The black seat finish was applied post-production over the original weave and shows light, even handling along the cord edges.
