This is a charming pair of vintage cloisonné enamel Mandarin duck figures, attributed to the "export creation" period of the mid-to-late 20th century. In Chinese culture, Mandarin ducks are a powerful symbol of love, fidelity, and marital harmony. Each duck is crafted from a copper body with intricate wire inlay and features a detailed, multi-colored design: a green head with a red patch, a gilded beak, a white scaled neck and breast, and a body adorned with dark red, green, yellow, and blue feathers rendered in fine wirework. The lower body and base are covered in a white ground with a scrolling cloud pattern. The bases are finished with a turquoise blue enamel and each has two small ventilation holes. These figures are the perfect size for a shelf, desk, or collector's cabinet, and make a meaningful gift. This listing is for the pair.
