The upper cabinet is fitted with two paneled doors retaining substantial decorative metal strap hinges and hardware. The interior incorporates shelving, including a green marble shelf and a pull-out marble writing or serving surface, providing an unusual combination of storage and functionality.

The lower section is fitted with two drawers with inlaid scrolling foliate decoration and ring pulls. Carved brackets, including a central female mask, enrich the apron. The cabinet is raised on four tapering supports with carved acanthus capitals, joined by a substantial platform shelf stretcher and terminating in large turned bun feet.

The contrasting light and dark woods, geometric banding, scrolling inlay, carved masks and architectural construction are characteristic of the Italian Renaissance Revival taste of the later 19th century. The cabinet retains particularly attractive period hardware. Electrified at a later date.
