A woman with auburn hair rests her head against her raised arm, her face half-lit and half-swallowed by shadow. The dramatic chiaroscuro, elongated, stylized features, and warm rose-and-umber palette give it a brooding, introspective mood.

The thick, textured brushwork is visible throughout, especially in the skin tones and the flame-orange highlights in the hair. It's housed in its original-style dark wood frame with a carved, stepped profile, which suits the moody tones of the piece. See less
