A striking vintage glass claret jug or pitcher featuring an ornate 95% tin pewter (Étain) mount in an elegant French-inspired Rococo style.
The beautifully shaped clear glass body is surrounded by elaborate pewter detailing, including sculptural foliate and floral motifs, a graceful scrolling handle, decorative hinged lid, and an impressive raised base resting on four feet.
The craftsmanship is particularly attractive, with intricate botanical ornamentation surrounding the base and neck and a beautifully detailed shell-inspired motif decorating the hinged lid.
The underside bears several impressed maker's/touch marks along with “ETAIN 95%,” indicating a high-tin pewter composition. The specific maker has not been identified.
A wonderful decorative piece for a traditional or French-inspired interior, bar, dining room, display cabinet, or collection of vintage European glass and pewter.
In wonderful vintage condition, displaying age-appropriate patina and minor wear consistent with its age and use. Please review all photographs closely as they are considered part of the condition description.
