Vintage pair of Mottahedeh Creil-style covered chestnut urns, c.1950s–60s, made in Italy. Mottahedeh became known for historically inspired decorative ceramics, and this mid-century series adapted the look of 18th–19th century French Creil transferware. Each pedestal urn features a canary-yellow ground with intricate black pastoral seasonal scenes labeled in French, grapevine borders, sculptural lion-mask sides and a removable boat-form lid with finial. Elegant Neoclassical statement pieces for a mantel, console or library.
