Two stylised female dancers posed on a round plinth, drawn as a sculpture group: the dancer-and-acrobat subject Chaim Gross (American, 1902-1991) worked in throughout his career. Graphite and watercolour wash on deckle-edged wove paper, signed "Chaim Gross" and dated 1966.
Provenance: personally inscribed by the artist in graphite to the current owner's family in the same year, and descended in the family since. The signature is consistent with the artist's hand, style and date, but it has not been checked against the estate or foundation records.
Glazed, with an oatmeal linen mat in a narrow silver-tone metal frame. Sheet approx. 11" x 20" (estimated); framed approx. 18" x 27.25".
