Antique Blanket Chest, Coffer,TV Stand, English Renaissance Revival, Oak, 1800s
A handsome late 19th-century English Renaissance Revival coffer or blanket chest, beautifully crafted with a richly figured mahogany top above a heavily carved oak case. Combining practical storage with bold architectural carving, this impressive chest reflects the enduring influence of Jacobean and Renaissance design during the Victorian era.
The hinged mahogany lid opens to reveal a spacious interior fitted with a convenient side till for storing smaller items. The front is richly decorated with two raised panels centered by deeply carved lion masks, framed by carved foliate ornament and striking carved figural bust supports in high relief. A boldly carved foliate frieze and molded base complete the impressive façade.

Solid brass carrying handles mounted on each side provide both function and decorative appeal, while substantial bun feet support the cabinet. The generous proportions and flat top also make this piece an outstanding candidate for use as a television stand or media console, blending antique character with modern functionality.

Ideal as a blanket chest, entry hall coffer, coffee table, television stand, media console, or decorative storage piece.
