1930s adjustable swivel stool manufactured by Sikes Co., Inc. of Buffalo, New York, appearing to be model No. 031½. Constructed primarily from oak, the stool features a curved rail back with vertical slats, a shaped wood seat, and a substantial four-leg pedestal base joined by a circular footrest and cross stretcher. The seat swivels and adjusts in height through rotation from approximately 23.5" to 25.5". A rubber perimeter bumper around the seat forms part of Sikes' "Five-Point Protection" system, designed to protect the wood from impacts during institutional and commercial use. Metal hardware beneath the seat supports the swivel and height-adjustment mechanism.
