Italy, 1970 origin italy period 1970 author ermanno metelerkamp was born in 1898 in malaysia to a dutch father and an indonesian mother, but chose italy, and in particular the varese area, as his adopted homeland. He lived for many years in barasso, where he died in 1993, leaving an indelible mark on the local art scene and beyond. His painting is a fascinating journey between dream and reality, characterized by a use of vibrant and intense color that also captured the attention of masters such as renato guttuso. As a testament to his artistic value, one of his paintings, nello studio del pittore (in the painter's studio) from 1972, is held in the prestigious permanent collection of the ma*ga museum in gallarate. His legacy lives on thanks to anthological exhibitions such as the one held at villa san martino di barasso in 2023 to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his death, which brought together significant works from private collections, confirming the consolidated interest in his figure.
