Inventory information on the underside identifies a later owner as the Russian diplomat Count Maurize Prozor, who served as the Russian ambassador to Saxony in 1903/04 and was part of the Russian legation in Dresden. The October Revolution prevented him from returning to Russia. He died in Nice in 1928, which explains the French transport label to Paris (for sale?). This Renaissance cabinet reveals this information like a time capsule – its history marks it as a museum-quality collector's item spanning at least 400 years. See less
