The antique Floral Still Life paintings presented here are a refined floral composition with a basket of roses and Jeté de Roses, a 19th-century oil on canvas.
A delicate still life with rose blossoms, captured at the peak of their bloom. The composition features a rich array of cut flowers, dominated by large
roses: pink, red, and white, arranged in the foreground on a horizontal plane. Behind the composition is a woven basket containing more roses.
A harmonious and luminous palette gives the work a natural and refined character.
Old master paintings with flowers, still life of flowers signed lower right by Achille Cesbron, a 19th-century French painter, a specialist in floral
still lifes and flower arrangements, particularly known for roses.
Achille Théodore Cesbron (1849–1913) was born in Oran, Algeria, and died in Paris. He trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris,
where he studied under important masters of French academic painting, including Léon Bonnat, Louis Français, and Fernand Cormon.
His artistic career spanned the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, during the peak of French genre and floral painting.
He participated in the Paris Salon for the first time in 1877, beginning a long and regular presence at exhibitions of the Société des Artistes Français.
Throughout his career, he received several awards, including an honorable mention in 1882, a third medal in 1884, and a second
medal in 1886. In 1889, he was also awarded a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris.
His painting is characterized by a particular attention to the naturalistic rendering of flowers, the delicacy of the petals, the luminosity of the colors, and the decorative balance
of the compositions. Cesbron achieved particular renown for his depiction of roses.
His work is now represented in several French museums, including the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Angers, and the museums of Châteaudun and Nantes.
The antique painting is framed in a gilded frame.
The antique frame and the oil painting have been carefully and professionally restored.
