Beautifully proportioned and exceptionally graceful from every angle, the table features a subtly shaped rectangular top with softly rounded corners and gently sculpted edges. Slender tapered legs frame a distinctive lower shelf composed of closely spaced wood slats, while dramatically curved aprons lend the piece an architectural, almost floating quality.

The restrained silhouette reflects the Scandinavian influence that defined some of the finest American mid-century furniture of the period. Particularly striking is the interplay between the delicate legs, bowed shelf supports, and expansive top, giving the table visual lightness despite its substantial construction.

The piece has been carefully refinished, revealing the warmth, depth, and natural variation of the wood grain while preserving the integrity of the original design. The resulting finish has a rich, warm tone that beautifully emphasizes the table's sculptural lines.

The original John Stuart Inc., New York / Grand Rapids maker's medallion remains affixed to the underside.

At 29.5 inches wide, the table has enough presence to stand beautifully beside a sofa or lounge chair while retaining the refined proportions characteristic of mid-century design. It could also serve as an occasional table or generously sized nightstand.

A sophisticated example of American mid-century furniture with wonderful architectural detailing and an increasingly versatile scale for contemporary interiors. See less
