Made in North Carolina in the late 20th century. Branded inside with the collection shield: “Historical James River Plantations / Hickory Chair Company.”

The case sits on a molded plinth base. Each end has a cupboard with a drawer above it; the center is a bank of drawers with fine light-wood stringing on the fronts. Hardware is solid brass bail pulls. One drawer has a key escutcheon. The top is polished figured mahogany with a molded edge. Useful as a dining-room sideboard, hall piece, or living-room console.

Hickory Chair, founded in 1911, based this collection on 18th-century furniture from the James River plantations in Virginia. The mark has been in use since 1941; this hardware and finish are typical of the 1980s–1990s production.

Condition: very good vintage condition, with light use consistent with age. Doors and drawers operate. Confirm whether the original key is included, and note any scratches you can see in person. Structurally sound.
