Striking set of three vintage hand-carved wood obelisks, each individually constructed and signed D.J.
The graduated forms feature substantial carved-wood bases and highly dimensional finials, finished in a rich, deeply aged dark brown/black finish with extensive hand-applied brass ornament.
The construction is particularly impressive. Each square pedestal base is individually made with framed and recessed panels, applied brass detailing and decorative brass trim secured directly to the wood. The carved finials are equally distinctive, with each of the three featuring a different architectural form and elaborate hand-applied metal ornament.
The aged wood, irregular handwork, worn finish and individually applied decorative elements give the set considerable character and depth. Each piece is signed “D.J.” near the lower portion of the base.
The three graduated pieces are designed to be displayed together as a cohesive architectural grouping, but each is substantial enough to stand on its own.

Minor age-related surface wear and patina. A few sections of the applied brass ornament sit slightly proud of the wood, consistent with the hand-applied construction. Overall, an exceptionally well-preserved set. less
