Charming vintage Staffordshire-style seated spaniel dog figurine with wonderful timeworn character.
Inspired by the classic Staffordshire pottery spaniels popular in Victorian England, this decorative dog is crafted from a chalkware, plaster, or composition-type material rather than traditional glazed Staffordshire pottery. The surface has a matte, slightly textured finish with hand-applied painted details and naturally aged patina.
The figure has a wonderfully expressive face, long modeled coat, floppy ears, and the traditional seated pose associated with Staffordshire spaniels. A visible mold seam is consistent with its molded construction.
Scattered paint loss, surface wear, and a small chip to one toe add to its authentic vintage appearance and decorative appeal.
A wonderful piece for a collected Country French, English Country, traditional, cottage, or European-inspired interior. Beautiful displayed on a mantel, bookshelf, console, or among a collection of antique and vintage objects.
