Each is hand-dyed batik on natural-fiber cloth, wrapped onto a panel and set in its original dark wood frame with plywood backing and wire. Both are signed in Chinese characters, one lower right and one lower left. The artist is unidentified. If you can read the signature, we'd love to know! Each painting carries a matching handwritten inventory number on the back (SBM prefix), suggesting they came from the same collection and have stayed together.
Hang them side by side over a sofa or credenza, or split them across a room. They'll hold a wall of teal, walnut, and brass.

Wax-resist crackle is part of the technique, not damage. Tiny foxing specks on the fabric, a small nick on one frame edge, and a slight gap at one mitered corner. On the backs, the fabric edges have loosened from the panel, which doesn't show from the front. Handwritten inventory-style numbers are on the backs. No labels. less
