The column is made of solid green French marble with a natural stone pattern that creates fine dark and lighter veining. This type of decorative pedestal is based on the neoclassical tradition, which was very popular in France in the first half of the 19th century and was often used to present sculptures, porcelain or other collector's items in the interiors of aristocratic houses and bourgeois salons. The column is turned and hand-crafted from a single type of stone, which is evident in the fine irregularities of the surface and the natural pattern of the marble. The shaping is elegantly articulated - from a stable polygonal base it transitions into a slender shaft and ends with a circular head intended for displaying a decorative object. The head is removable and the pedestal can be divided into two parts, which facilitates handling and transport. The whole looks very noble and representative. The distinctive green marble pattern and classic architectural shape make the pedestal ideal for displaying sculpture, porcelain, bronze or other collectibles. This is an authentic hand-made piece from around 1830, not a modern machine-made reproduction. The condition is very good. See less
