The cabinet is composed as a monumental architectural unit – it is divided into a lower and upper part, which is topped by a distinctive cornice and a wide frieze. Characteristic columns or caryatids support the facade and create a plastic impression of structural richness. The decoration is iconographically rich – the reliefs depict allegories of theological and cardinal virtues (e.g. Hope with a book, Mercy with children, Faith with doves; and Wisdom, Justice, Strength). This decoration transforms the cabinet from a mere piece of furniture into a visual and symbolic representation of virtues and values. Typically, it is among the most expensive and representative pieces of furniture in the 17th century in Flanders and the Netherlands. Functionally, such a cabinet was intended to store valuables, textiles or wedding equipment - the so-called castes played the role not only of practical storage space, but also of a symbol of the owner's wealth and social status. It was prominently placed in the household, where it stood out irreplaceably and communicated the aesthetic and value ideals of the "golden age" of Holland.
