The transfer-decorated design wraps around the rounded body with traditional architectural, garden, tree, and floral motifs, while additional blue decoration accents the angular handle, spout, and fitted lid.
The wonderfully squat, almost spherical form gives this piece an especially appealing profile. A patterned finial tops the lid, and the squared handle provides a distinctive contrast to the rounded body.

The underside bears a script “Made in Japan” mark. No manufacturer's mark is present, so the specific pottery cannot be definitively attributed. The piece is consistent with Japanese export wares produced during the early-to-mid 20th century.
