Textured coastal harbor painting signed Eileen Kelly, depicting a lively expanse of blue water dotted with white sailboats and framed by a rugged evergreen shoreline.
Loose, impressionistic handling and substantial areas of raised paint give the scene its character. Deep greens and blue-black passages define the foreground trees, while pale blues, cream, lavender, and touches of green open into a luminous harbor and softly rendered hills along the distant horizon. Small sailing vessels scattered across the water create movement and scale throughout the composition.
Presented in a traditional gold-tone frame with a wide linen-textured liner, an especially complementary treatment for the painting's coastal palette.
