In the left background, a thatched-roof building can be seen, the surrounding vegetation evokes late summer or early autumn. The composition evokes a feeling of peace and nostalgia, typical of romantic landscape painting of the 19th century.

the author of the original is h. Schmidt (signed at the bottom of the painting "h. Schmidt 09"), whose name is also listed under the painting as h. Schmidt pinx. . This german painter is known for his realistic, melancholic landscapes with a precise presentation of the atmosphere. The painting is printed in the form of heliogravure (l. Angerer, berlin heliogr. ), which was a modern and precise method of reproducing works of art in the 19th century. The publisher is bernhard nöhring from lübeck, which is confirmed by the period inscription "verlag von bernhard nöhring in lübeck" below the painting. The painting is glazed and set in an ornate gilded frame with a richly profiled molding with an acanthus motif and a fine patina that underlines its age.
