The composition depicts a peaceful rural landscape with a prominent tree canopy in the foreground and an open space with an intensely blue sky in the background. The painter works with a dense, sometimes pasty structure of paint, which adds depth and liveliness to the painting. The contrast between the dark, shady foreground and the illuminated horizon creates a distinctive atmosphere of a late summer afternoon. The color scheme is based on warm tones of brown, green and light accents of the yellow-blue sky. Visible brushstrokes and the modeling of the foliage indicate the artist's sure hand and traditional training. The painting is set in a richly decorated gilded frame with plastic ornamentation, which underlines the representative character of the work. The back bears the original tension frame, supplemented by later reinforcement. The condition of the canvas corresponds to the age of the painting, the surface is stable and without major defects. The frame bears a fine patina. This work is suitable for collectors of French landscape painting, for a stylish interior and for gallery presentation.
