The rug features a delicate old pink color in combination with beige, light green, blue and dark blue tones. The composition consists of a distinctive central medallion surrounded by stylized plant and geometric motifs. The multiple ornamental border creates a harmonious frame and underlines the classic oriental character of the carpet. The rug is hand-knotted from fine wool using silk on a cotton warp. Silk elements react to incident light differently than wool and create a subtle shine and color contrasts that change depending on the direction of view. The wool pile is soft and pleasant to the touch. The density of the weave is approximately 160,000 knots per m².

The rug is signed directly in the weave in the corner part, which is visible in the detailed photo. An older trade label “Tapis d’Orient” has also been preserved with the note “Entièrement Fait Main”, i.e. completely handmade.

The rug is dated around 1994. Provenance: Lahore, Pakistan. The rug is in very good condition with no tread marks. The pile maintains a good height and the pattern of the ornament remains clearly legible. The rug is clean and without an unpleasant odor. The color differences visible from different angles are partly caused by the direction of the pile and the reflection of light from the silk parts. It is suitable for both a classic or historical interior and as a striking solitaire in a modernly furnished space.
