An imposing polychrome glazed ceramic fountain from Vallauris, a renowned center of 20th-century French ceramic art.
It depicts a seated mermaid holding an amphora from which water flows, above a large circular basin resting on a pedestal decorated with marine and organic motifs.
The textured finish and the nuances of green and white glazes recall the naturalist inspiration and boldness of Vallauris creations in the second half of the 20th century.
A rare piece due to its iconography, dimensions, and sculptural presence.
