designer, illustrator, painter, lecturer.

initially worked as a commercial designer and in the printing industry.

from 1995, he was heavily involved with the "kulturforumeuropa e. V. (kfe)" in vettweiß, founded in 1992 on the initiative of hans-dietrich genscher.

bauer directed the academy for art and design there from late summer 1996.

he also taught at adult education centers.

in 2001, the studio building designed by bauer and architect prof. Wolfgang meisenheimer was completed, providing a workspace for artists and a venue for courses.

together with the students of the academy, bauer conceived several exhibitions in the region, thereby establishing the kfe within the local art and cultural scene. He himself regularly participated in the studio's annual exhibitions.

in 2012, he created the controversial series "ken signs," in which he revived the barbie companion "ken" and portrayed him as a self-confident gay man. The series was shown, among other venues, at the eupen art fair (june 2012). It also received considerable press coverage.

in 2013, he participated in the "artpul" art fair at the walzwerk in cologne-pulheim.

in addition to (self-)portraits, he creates male nudes in an expressive visual language, which he sometimes groups into series ("black series," "white series"), as well as car designs for private collectors and car dealerships. This piece has an attribution mark,
