An exceptional piece of late 19th-century French furniture, this two-part solid walnut buffet embodies all the richness and whimsy of the Renaissance style.

The quality of the carving is remarkable: each panel is adorned with lively bas-reliefs depicting village scenes and figures in period costume, while the side panels are decorated with grotesque figures and finely carved caryatids. One of the most unusual carvings features a jester supporting the top shelf, adding a theatrical and playful touch to the whole.

The piece consists of two parts:

an upper section with three finely carved doors and an architectural cornice,

a lower section with three richly decorated doors, framed by fluted columns and vegetal details.

Handles and keyhole escutcheons in chased bronze. Warm, even patina. Excellent condition.

Material: Solid walnut

Dimensions: Height 255 cm x Width 179 cm x Depth 60 cm
