An elegant Napoleon III style jardinière on a stand, dating from the second half of the 19th century.
Made of ebonized wood and richly adorned with finely chased gilt bronze mounts, this piece is distinguished by its circular top decorated with a superb hand-painted porcelain plaque. The decoration depicts a bucolic scene with a bird in flight surrounded by flowers, in luminous shades of blue, pink, and gold.
The curved tripod base and the quality of the finish testify to the refinement and taste for decorative arts of this period.
