BIOGRAPHY
Born in Rome in 1932 into a family of artists, she attended the Academy of Fine Arts where she met Toti Scialoja, who would play an important role in her future as an artist. From 1959 to 1963 she lived in Paris, but returned to the capital where she joined a movement later called the School of Piazza del Popolo, along with Franco Angeli, Mario Schifano, Tano Festa, Francesco Lo Savio, Fabio Mauri, and Giuseppe Uncini. With some of them he participated in the 1964 Venice Biennale. These artists often exhibited at Plinio De Martiis' Galleria Tartaruga in Rome, a point of reference for many Italian and international artists, including Cy Twombly, and where in 1968 Giosetta inaugurated the Teatro delle Mostre with the performance La Spia Ottica. Her first experiences with the camera and photography and her "toys for adults," or Teatrini, date from this period. She spent the 1970s in Salgareda, Veneto, with her partner, writer Goffredo Parise. He exhibited, between the 1970s and 1980s, at Galleria Naviglio in Milan, Lucio Amelio in Naples, De' Foscherari in Bologna, Dell'Oca in Rome, Mazzoli in Modena, Corraini in Mantua, and Studio Bernabò in Venice. In 1970 the Tartaruga gallery in Rome presented a solo exhibition entitled Laguna: Silver Landscapes were born. In 1993 Achille Bonito Oliva invited her to the Venice Biennale, where she returned in 1995 for the exhibition Percorsi del gusto. During these years, at the Gatti workshop in Faenza, she began to produce ceramic sculptures, making several cycles of works: the Teatrini, the Case, the Scatole magiche, the Formelle, and the Vestiti. In 2013, the Drawing Center in New York dedicated to her the anthological exhibition Giosetta Fioroni. Silver, curated by Claire Gilman. In 2015 the Centre Pompidou in Paris acquired one of her works, a canvas from the Argenti cycle of the 1960s entitled Gli occhiali. This piece has an attribution mark,
