A striking vintage ornamental wall mirror marked “moko praha”, originating from prague, czechoslovakia and dating to the mid-20th century. The tall rectangular mirror is surrounded by an elaborate forged metal frame featuring extensive scrolling ironwork, twisted elements, symmetrical curls and a prominent central floral and leaf ornament. The highly decorative frame creates a strong sculptural presence and reflects the tradition of ornamental european metalworking. The dark metal surface has developed a naturally aged patina, with areas of warm golden-bronze showing through the original finish. The intricate scrollwork extends around the entire frame, including the elaborate upper crest and decorative lower section. The mirror glass features a beveled edge, providing an elegant contrast to the strongly ornamental metal frame. The reverse retains its original paper backing, which has developed natural waviness and age-related wear. An original period stamp reading “moko praha” is clearly visible on the reverse. The moko marking is associated with a period prague enterprise or workshop connected with modern metalworking, the construction and maintenance of residential buildings and artistic metal grilles. The wording visible on the original stamp refers to “stavba a údržby bytů a umělecké mřížoviny”, providing an interesting indication of the mirror's czechoslovak and prague provenance.
