Early 20th-century tin lithograph point-of-sale display manufactured by H.D. Beach Co. for Murphy Varnish Co. of Newark and Chicago, advertising the company's Da-Cote Enamel finishes. The self-framed display features colorful period illustrations demonstrating the enamel's versatility, including a furnished domestic interior and an early automobile, surrounded by ornate decorative borders and Murphy branding. A projecting metal holder near the lower portion originally supported a sample card fitted with individual metal color strips illustrating the available Da-Cote finishes. Designed for hardware, paint, or home furnishing retailers, the display provides an unusual surviving example of early 20th-century American paint and finishing-product merchandising.
