The deep, arched openwork carving brings a quiet, architectural presence to intimate wall spaces.

These are surviving fragments from a traditional timber-framed structure, dating to circa 1890. Each panel features intricate foliate openwork carved in a graceful arch, with traces of original gilt and a rich, thick patina developed over more than a century. The openwork design allows light to filter through the pierced surfaces, casting delicate, shifting shadow patterns that move with the day’s changing light. Condition: The antique panels show natural wear consistent with age, including minor losses to the openwork carving — a quiet record of their history, not a flaw to be corrected.

With a 2 cm floating gap on a solid wood backplate. Ready to hang with pre-installed hardware. Displayed together as a pair, or separately as complementary pieces.

This listing is for a pair of two independent wall sculptures, each with its own backplate. One-of-a-kind pair. See less
