c. 1900s - 1910s; manufactured by Burdick Sign Co. for Cuomo Cheese Corp. - New York
Antique tin over cardboard sign advertising Charles Cuomo's cheese import and export business. Cuomo was the first established cheese manufacturer in New York's Little Italy neighborhood and spent extensive time in (Big) Italy learning the trade of cheese making, eventually earning certification to produce Old Country cheese in New York. A reference to this is present on the sign in the form of a small, illustrated version of the very same certificate Cuomo earned.
This sign features illustrations of various types of cheese available from Cuomo. The graphics and lettering are in a red and yellow color palette.
