Striking pair of large-scale glazed ceramic figures modeled in the manner of traditional Chinese court officials or immortals. Each figure is individually sculpted with elongated robes, elaborate headdresses, applied beaded necklaces, and richly glazed decorative details in earthy ochre, rust, brown, blue, green, and turquoise tones.
The larger figure features a warm golden-ochre robe with an ornamental chest medallion and sculptural hand detail, while the smaller companion figure is finished in a deep russet glaze with a long white beard and coordinating blue chest decoration. Both stand on integrated geometric bases with colorful incised and relief ornamentation.
Likely 20th century. Maker and exact origin are currently unknown.
