Early 20th-century embossed tin advertising sign for Sidney Dillon Cigars, produced by the J.B. Moos Cigar Manufacturing Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. The self-framed sign centers on a detailed portrait of the celebrated American trotting horse Sidney Dillon standing before a racetrack and grandstand, with the image based on a painting by artist L. M. Webb. Raised lettering identifies the Sidney Dillon cigar brand along the upper and side borders, while a lower plaque reads "Sire of the First 2.00 Trotter." The shaped border, gilt accents, embossed imagery, and equestrian subject create a distinctive example of early American tobacco and sporting advertising.
