With its expressive hand-modeled surface, elongated proportions, and architectural pedestal base, the one-of-a-kind studio pottery piece brings a distinctly sculptural presence to a collected interior.

The portrait is defined by an elongated cylindrical neck, softly modeled facial features, almond-shaped downcast eyes, and a simplified swept-back coiffure, all raised on an integral square plinth. Visible hand-tooling, irregular contours, subtle asymmetry, and variations throughout the ceramic surface emphasize its hand-built construction, while the glossy pale yellow glaze pools and catches the light across the textured form. Its restrained facial treatment and geometric base reflect the influence of mid-century Modernist and earlier Art Deco portrait sculpture.

Ideal for display on a console, pedestal, bookshelf, mantel, or within a collection of studio ceramics and figurative sculpture, the bust functions as both a decorative object and a standalone sculptural focal point. Its warm butter-yellow palette and tactile handmade character complement Modernist, Mid-Century Modern, Art Deco-inspired, Organic Modern, and eclectic interiors. See less
