A magnificent antique Chinese ceremonial kettle dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (Qing Dynasty to Republic Period, circa 1880–1930).
Material & Craftsmanship: Hand-crafted from a mixed metal silver alloy (white brass/paktong composition with silver highlights) featuring dynamic high-relief coiling dragons along the body, an overhead swing handle terminating in a detailed dragon head, and three robust Foo/Buddhist lion mask tripod feet. The lid is finished with a carved carnelian (or semi-precious stone) bead finial and secured by a delicate chain link.
Markings: Features a traditional square artisan maker's stamp on the base, reflecting classic workshop provenance The characters inside these square seals are usually rendered in stylized Seal Script (Zhuanshu), an ancient form of Chinese calligraphy traditionally used for signatures and chops to impart an air of heritage and authenticity..
