The linen is heavy, substantial … Read more This is one of those old French sheets you really have to touch to appreciate. The linen is heavy, substantial and beautifully woven, with the kind of weight and hand that you just don’t find in modern linen. Holding it really does feel a little like touching history.

The large MF monogram is wonderful, embroidered in white with sweeping letters, leaves and little floral details. The sheet is made in the old way with a center seam, and you can see where widths of linen were carefully pieced together to create a sheet this large. Rather than taking away from it, those details are part of what makes it so special. Someone made this to last, and more than a century later, it has.

It was obviously used, loved and treasured, yet the linen remains remarkably strong and beautiful. There is one tiny age related mark, photographed, but otherwise it is in excellent antique condition.

This would be gorgeous on a bed, but because the linen is so heavy and substantial, I could also see it used as a coverlet, draped over a sofa or simply folded at the foot of a bed.

Professionally cleaned and preserved.
