This is a rare and exquisite pair of antique Chinese bronze candle holders featuring a majestic red-crested crane standing gracefully on the back of a mythical turtle-dragon, a classic motif symbolizing longevity. Cast in heavy bronze with remnants of gold gilding, the pieces show an authentic deep patina with green and red oxidation. The turtle base is intricately detailed with shell patterns and a dragon head, resting on a wave-like plinth, and a seal mark is visible on the bottom. One candle cup has a slight irregular edge, which is typical for hand-cast antiques of this era. Both pieces are structurally sound and designed to hold standard taper or pillar candles.
