Domed top steamer trunk clad in embossed metal with repeating floral pattern, reinforced by vertical wood slats and decorative pressed metal corner guards and straps. The exterior shows a richly aged surface with darkened patina, riveted construction, and original hardware including latch, hasp, and side handles-one retaining its worn leather grip. The lid features arched wood bands with applied metal accents.
The interior retains its original paper lining with geometric patterning, along with a fitted lift-out tray compartment. The underside of the lid is decorated with colorful lithographed paper borders and period imagery, including a portrait vignette and landscape scene, adding a layer of visual interest that contrasts the rugged exterior. The tray is removable, revealing a deep storage cavity beneath.
