Lighted 12-inch Replogle Library Globe mounted within a cast metal meridian and supported by a turned and carved oak pedestal stand with four gracefully curved legs. The globe features colorful political cartography with detailed geographic features, ocean currents, steamship routes, and the "Library Globe" legend cartouche designed by noted cartographer Gustav Brueckmann. Internal illumination enhances the cartographic detail while providing warm ambient light. The substantial oak pedestal features a decoratively carved central column, turned details, and four sweeping legs with metal-capped feet, giving the educational globe the appearance of a traditional library furnishing. Replogle's Library Globe series became a popular fixture in homes, libraries, schools, and executive offices during the mid-20th century.
