Two decorative obelisks, circa 1970. The taller is clad in bone inlay laid in a crisp herringbone pattern and stands on a stepped square base. The smaller is carved from travertine on a molded pedestal plinth, with the warm, pitted texture that makes the stone so appealing.
Sourced from a private European collection.
I chose them because obelisks are the easiest way to add height and architecture to a bookshelf, mantel or console, and these two mix materials that look wonderful together. Style them as a set or split them between rooms.
Approx. 15 in. and 13.5 in. high (38 and 34 cm).
