The Pair of carved and gilded wood panels are presented in a Cubist, Picasso-inspired manner. Overlapping abstract heads and geometric planes are worked in silver and gold gilt over punched, dotted, and ribbed grounds in bronze, black, cream, and muted green. The fronts carry incised gilt “Picasso” signatures. The reverses of both panels have a red lowercase signed inscription consistent with “baj,” with later block-letter “ENRICO BAJ” labeling on the slats. Offered as mid-century Italian decorative panels attributed to Enrico Baj in homage to Picasso; not accompanied by an Archivio Baj certificate (COA). Good condition: Wear is consistent with age and use: craquelure, rubbing to the gilding, and minor edge wear that form part of the original patina.
