A striking and substantial Chinese carved horn sculpture. The piece features two large, detailed carp leaping upwards from stylized lotus leaves and blooms. The carving is masterfully executed, showing intricate scales, fins, and expressive faces. The sculpture is mounted on a carved, circular base with four scrolled feet, and features a fan-shaped plaque with the Chinese characters "年年有余" (Nian Nian You Yu), a traditional idiom meaning "abundance year after year." The horn has a rich, translucent amber-brown tone with natural grain variations. A wonderful statement piece for a scholar's desk or display.
