Fernando de Jesus Oliveira (Ferjo) - Many art critics believe that Ferjo is the most famous living artists. Born Fernando de Jesus Oliveria, the artist was born in Bahia, Brazil in 1946, he attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts beginning in 1974 and won numerous awards there for his art. After graduation, strongly influenced by Salvador Dali, Ferjo began to experiment with his realist aesthetic and push the bounds of what the audience would expect to see in a painting. Ferjo's strong background in realism allowed him to create a believable surrealist landscape in his paintings. He often uses vibrant colors that are enriched or exaggerated versions of colors that would be found in nature. His ability to combine influences would set him apart from other artists and pave the wave for his widespread commercial and critical success. His talent and technical skill is still the most apparent part of his artwork, and he continues to receive great critical acclaim.
